Colin teaches didgeridoo to groups, or on a one-to-one basis at the Aboriginal Arts gallery in Stratford, east London.

Students can quickly master the basic drone, learn circular breathing, develop rhythm building and be introduced to more complex techniques. One-to-one Didgeridoo lessons cost £20.00 per hour and if five lessons are booked in advance you only pay for four!

"The Didgeridoo, an ancient instrument reaching back as far as 25,000 years, it is used by the Arnhem Land Aborigines for ceremonies and initiations to accompany the telling of their mythology and sacred stories.

It is therefore unbelievable that these ancient instruments have travelled over 16,000 kilometres to end up in Colin Goring's basement at The London Didgeridoo School in Stratford, where he teaches weekly private and corporate Didgeridoo classes.

Walking down the steps to the basement is like crossing the threshold to the New World. The classroom is lined with aboriginal artefacts and dozens of brilliantly adorned Didgeridoos, all of which have been authentically carved out by Australian termites.

The initial instructions seemed easy enough: purse your lips and blow. To get a sound out of that Eucalyptus log you have to be disciplined enough to suppress surges of laughter, as all sorts of strange sounds emerge by blowing through the trunk."
