Kyle
Maplesden has always been interested in the world's
indigenous peoples. He has undertaken an intensive study
into the traditional didjeridu techniques employed in
Arnhem Land and its surrounds and the intricate imagery
that adorns rock shelters and bark paintings alike.
Kyle
will discuss the regional playing styles and his experiences
in Arnhem Land in a freeform workshop on developing a
working understanding of the elements involved in traditional
playing styles and how they can be incorporated into your
own playing.
Discussion
will focus on the the two main instrument types of the
region, namely the Yidaki and Mago, and
the differences and similarities between the playing styles
associated with each form of didgeridoo.
